Research
The experimental research of the chair in Biochemical Pharmacology is focused on the understanding of molecular, biochemical and cell biological processes involved in immunopathological diseases and cancer development. In particular, we are interested in the role and regulation of apoptotic cell death in tumor cells, and in immune cells and tissue cells during inflammatory diseases. A second focus is the extra-adrenal synthesis of immunoregulatory glucocorticoids in the intestine, the skin and the lung, and how these glucocorticoids regulate the course of local inflammatory processes.
