Advanced Laboratory Course Immunology (Vertiefungskurs)

The Advanced Course Immunology is part of the Master's degree programs Biological Sciences and Life Science. Furthermore it can be chosen as a focus program course for students of the Disease Biology program. The course takes place in the first half of each winterterm.

During the course students will work under the supervision of individual group members on current research projects, thereby gaining a detailed insight into the daily research work in the particular field of immunology. The scientific data that is aquired during the course is presented in short talk form at the end of the course. Furthermore regular attendance and active engagement in the theoretical seminars as well as paper seminars and discussions is obligatory for the participants. To train the process of scientific writing, each participant has to hand in a report in the style of a manuscript proposal for publication in a scientifc journal to their supervisors within a given time after the course. The lectures and seminars of the course can alternatively be attended as a theoretical course only.

Previous attendance in the lecture "Immunologie" is no pre-requisite, but generally recommended - especially for students who have received their bachelor's degree at other universities, if they have not attended basic immunology lectures of comparable content before.

Material and details will be handed out during the course. The course can be held in english or german, which is discussed with the participants in the beginning. The preferred language is english, especially when non-german speakers are participating the course
