Dr. Peng Wang

I am interested in the role of plant roots play in ecosystem functioning and how environmental changes will change it. I carried out several experiments in the Arctic tundra and on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to investigate the relationship between root dynamics (standing biomass, production and decomposition) and environmental conditions such as climate warming and nutrient enrichment. I also conducted some greenhouse experiments to examine the responses of root dynamics and foraging activity to nutrient heterogeneity. Besides experiments, I also do meta-analyses trying to find universal patterns in relation to the above topics.
